It has been one year and two months since my last post. I could give you a whole lot of reasons why that is and make up excuses but really all you need to know is that her name is Oonagh Maude (if you say it like Edna Mode from The Incredibles it’s really fun). She is 6-months old and already trying to walk so she can catch up to her two older sisters. Apparently just because you say there will be no more babies doesn’t mean there will be no more babies unless you actually do something permanent about it. Without getting into too much information I can safely say there will be no more babies.
But enough about my inability to keep my pants on – let’s talk books!
So the Giller Prize people have announced all the nominations for this year’s prize and I’ve lost myself in it for the last two days. I have so many books on hold at the library right now I could probably build an addition to the house with them if they all come in at once. There is no way I’m going to be able to read them all but at least I’m having fun. Have the Giller people always done this? I’ve been living in post-partum bubble for the last 5+ years so I have no idea. However, this year I’m in the know and this year I’m going to be prepared and have read at least one whole book on the Giller list when it comes time for the Giller Light party. And to get even crazier I’m going to go to the Giller Light party and if things get really wild I might actually talk to someone other than my friend Jocelyn who I will drag with me. Crazy, eh?
Now I just need some books to start arriving at my library so I can start reading.
